Top Bars and Pubs in Shaw, DC

The neighborhood of Shaw, located less than a mile northeast of The White House, is mix of trendy hip new culture and rich African-American history dating back to pre-Civil War. There’s great places to dine, parks to enjoy, museums, art and all the historic signs to see. But one of the best things about Shaw is the variety of incredible places to relax and enjoy a drink.  Here’s our list of top Bars and Pubs in the neighborhood of Shaw.

Shaw Brewpub & Kitchen

On the north end of Shaw you can grab a beer brewed right here. The Shaw Brewpub & Kitchen is the brewpub for the Right Proper Brewing Company, which also has a production house and tasting room just 2-miles away in Brookland. For beer enthusiasts, Shaw Brewpub uses a 5-Barrel system which means the beers change frequently and offers the brewers room to experiment. The food from the kitchen is not your standard pub-fare, but more like what you’ll find at a bistro, including items such as Grilled Octopus, Lamb French Dip and Wood-Grilled Salmon, all very reasonably priced.
